Yesterday I formatted my mac and installed the macOS Sierra, then Installed XCode 8.3.3 , and the newest Visual studio for Mac.
The SDK Location for Android is not found.

I read your link. But I don't know how to implement.
I download the android SDK and unzip it to /users/cheunglik/library/Android
and set the path in the Visual studio for mac, but not work

Can you tell me how to do step by step?

  • The suggestions here were unfortunately not very helpful, since they assume I can use the SDK Manager, which is precisely what doesnt work.

I have resortet to downloading and installing all of Android Studio just to get the SDK, which now works fine.
But thank you all for your help anyways.

You set the path incorrectly. You need to set it to the root folder of the Android SDK, /Users/cheunglik/Library/Android, not /users/cheunglik/library/Android/tools/bin.

Me too am facing the same problem

Perhaps the above will help? Just get the Android SDK, unzip it, and point Visual Studio to the root folder of the Android SDK.

Also you an try using the universal installer for Visual Studio for Mac which should install the Android SDK if it is not found. You can get that here: https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/visual-studio-mac/

I did have a problem with the Android manager not recognizing the sdk location. Turns out that Android studio also complained when I tried to run a test project. It gave me the error message of 'Unable to locate adb'. It looks like something with my sdk installation got messed up.

As a verification tool, I recommend others try loading Android Studio with the same settings as Visual studio to help debug things.
